SET APART.

 

Being set apart unto God is a lifestyle, not a formula... I learn this practically everyday. I also learn more experiencilly, that indeed the consecrated life is an alone life. It's choosing the road less taken every day. It's accepting the fact that some days you'll feel secluded and extra alone. You'll feel lonely because you're not on the path the majority are on. You'll feel like you're missing out at times. We tend to want to be strong inside and claim we don't feel the pinch but the truth is we do. We're spiritual beings but contained in a weak flesh that wants what it wants but needs to be tamed and will definitely offer some resistance. 

I've been meditating on God's word through two songs of late. One talks about the 'mountain of God' :

Mountain of God:

And as I travel on the road, that You have led me down

You are here with me, Yes, You are here with me

And I have need for nothin' more, Oh, now that I have found

That You are here with me, Yes, You are here with me.

Oh, sometimes I think of where it is I've come from

And the things I've left behind

But of all I've had, what I possess

Nothin' can quite compare

With what's in front of me

With what's in front of me...

And even though the journey is long

And I know the road is hard

Yet, the one who's gone before me

He will help me carry on

And after all that I've been through

Oh, now I realize the truth 

That I must go through the valley

To stand upon the mountain of God

Who may ascend onto the mountain of the LORD? And who may stand in His holy place? [4.] He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to what is false, Nor has sworn [oaths] deceitfully. [Matt 5:8] - Psalm 24:3-4.

Remember, God has a special purpose for everyone, and He sets us apart for them.
